Patteren Making in PSP 8

I have used PSP 8 for this tutorial
The bird image used in this tut is part the kit, Pet Shop by Crescent Moon Designs, available here
This tut is written keeping in mind that the user has basic PSP knowledge.

1 - Open a new document with following settings

2 - Then open any image of your choice, I used the bird image as mentioned earlier

3 - Copy and paste this onto your new image

4 - If the image is too large, you will have to resize it, go to Image ---> Resize, play around a bit to see what works for you, I used the following settings, be sure the Resize all Layers checkbox is unchecked.

5 - Now to make this seamless, go to Effects ---> Image Effects ---> Seamless Tiling, using the           following settings

I got this

6 - Now to add some background color, select the Flood Fill tool and pick a colour that compliments the image used, I picked the colour from the nose of the bird, highlight the lower transparent layer from the Layer Palette and flood fill it with the chosen colour

7 - Now we have a basic image patteren, but lets spice this up a bit by adding a drop shadow and a overall texture.

8 - Now highlight the layer with the image on it , and go to Effects ---> 3D Effects ---> Drop Shadow , using the following settings add a light drop shadow to the image layer

this is what I got, see the difference the drop shadow has on a image?

9 - Now go to the high lightened layer, right click and on the popped up menu go to Merge ---> Merge Visible, as shown here

A kitchen tip!

Hi there friends, thougt I would share this amazing tip with you all, since the winter is here
and I'm sure you all enjoy hard boiled eggs and have to be extra careful not to put in the
cracked ones.

Just add a pinch of salt to water and egg, and let it boil to your hearts content!
Even if the egg's cracked it wont get outside and mess up.
My grandmother used to do this and when asked the reason she would just shrug and say
she saw her mom do it so she does it, I never really understood untill I started cooking
and experimenting, so I came to know the magic of salt, thought I'm sure its no magic and
just plain science.

But it works everytime, mostly I'm in a hurry and dont have time to go thru every egg carefully
and I get very frustrated when the egg just spills all out and I have to clean it up and boil another one
Putting the salt in it helps everytime, try it next time :)

take care

Pheasent Shirt - Sewing Project

Hi there, Fall is finally here and it is starting to get a bit chilly in the evenings, so I decided it was time to make something with sleeves for Eshal, she mostly has sleeveless cloths in her wordrobe.
I have had this Pheasent dress/shirt project in my mind for quiet some time now.

I love how this turned out. I like the way Pheasent dress gathers at the neck and shoulders giving it
bunchy look. I wanted it to be full sleeves but did a bit of miscalculation and ended up with three
quarter sleeves, I loved the end result though :)

And ofcourse Eshal loves to pose, and there she is, one arm at her waist and foot turning sideways
It was really very funny and adorable.

She wore it to school, so the morning shoot was a bit, sleepy :)

Now I just have to make 2 more for the twins, and I'm thinking of doing a tutorial, nothing professional but a step by step pic of how I made this.
But dont hold your breath please, it may take a while! :)

Rosie Meadows Regrets by Catherine Alliot

Another book? yup, I read it while cooking, cleaning giving the kids their bath and in between
everything! :)

Now with so much reading and not enough to spare, its the old used up bookstore for me :) But
I love that bookstore, I have been getting books from there since I started reading say about
19 years ago! (yikes am I really that old), and its right at the end of my street, convenient!

This time around the shop I was looking for some light romantic comedies, with everything else
to do I need something that lifts my spirits up, I came across this huge pile and I bought Rosie Meadows Regrets by Catherine Alliot and some other lot.

What can I say about this book, other than that its marveluos! the main character, Rosie, is
hilarious her ability to think of her dire situations in a funny way is what makes this book tick
for me. She gets landed into some hilarious and weird situations one after the other and has a very
wild imagination. I loved the climax, the way its written, and I could not keep this book down
after the middle, I mean I finished it in 1 and half day!

So I would give it 5 stars and a must read!
Here is the author's official site

Enjoy!
